Hidden Message

Hi guys, what a great night… can you spot the hidden message in the following as per the business card thingmy? Keep checking the blog for thoughts and updates and feel free to leave a comment…

Great to see you all tonight! Okay so we ran a wee bit over time but… Doesn’t it amaze you how new people are there every month? I wonder how many new people will be there next month? Surely you will all invite a friend for the pre-Christmas extravaganza. Thinking back, what’s been your favourite Powerpoint? How amazing is it that God speaks in so many different ways? Every time we meet I’m reminded of His goodness. After all these years of doing the event, it’s great to see it grow. Now what do we do to make it better? So many options, so little time… What do we need to be thinking about? Everyone’s opinion counts! Remember there are no right or wrong suggestions… Though there are good ones and bad ones! OK? Maybe you and some friends should get together and think up some ideas…? Yes, Neil, we should I hear you cry…What? How? Yum yum, I think I’ll eat some empire biscuits and go to bed…

THis is not part of the clue, but there was an iPod left behind this month. If it’s yours, please email us at info@powerpointedinburgh.co.uk with a description of your missing iPod and we’ll get it back to you.

Bye for now…

Dear Friends of Powerpoint,

Those of you who were there will (hopefully) attest to the fact that Powerpoint October was awesome. God was working, the message was clear and people went away challenged and inspired. We were delighted that up to 20 young people made first time commitments and around 250 reaffirmed their faith!

This month, we are pleased to have a drama group from the USA with us (www.dramateam.org), sharing the theme “God in my Purpose”. We’re excited about doing something “a little different” this month and trust that the Lord will use them to advance the kingdom. If it is your discipline, we would ask that you would pray for them, for safety in their travel and clarity in communication of the message. Please also pray for the event, that God would continue to bless it and that we as the leadership team would continue to listen!

The event will take place at St. Thomas’ Church on the Glasgow Road Edinburgh, 7.30pm - 10pm on Friday 14th November and entry is just £2. If you are a youth leader, please do consider brining your youth group along.

It would be great if you would forward this email on to anyone you come into contact with who may be interested in bringing a youth group to the event. Your continued support to Powerpoint is valued and we really hope to see you there on the 14th. If you would like any more information about the event, please check our website www.powerpointedinburgh.co.uk or feel free to contact SU Scotland on 0131 445 4125 or you can email the team at info@powerpointedinburgh.co.uk. We welcome all feedback on the event, so feel free to get in touch with us about that too!

Finally, you may be interested to know that we have recorded a promotional clip about the event which can be found here - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xT90_eA9niI hard copy DVDs will be made available at a later date.

Many thanks and God bless…

Neil (on behalf of the Powerpoint team)

Back to School, Back to Life, Back to Reality

OK by now you’ll all be back to school, wondering what on earth happened to your summer holidays… well they’re gone, its time to move on. The upside to the return to school is the return to Powerpoint. I think I speak for everyone when I say “Hiooooooooooooooooooo”.

PP returns - as if you didn’t know - on 3rd October at 7.30pm, St. Thomas’ Church, Glasgow Road Edinburgh. We’re all really excited about getting back to it and it looks like its going to be a fun, inspiring and challenging year. We’re really excited to have Kevin “Mcgladius” McGlade joining us to talk about Identity. Kevin is a really gifted speaker, so come along expecting to be challenged and inspired - if you’re nice to him, he may even spin on his head for you… seriously.

Any questions? Fire them on to us at info@powerpointedinburgh.co.uk

Bye bye now…

Burning Issues

Hi everyone… my goodness it’s been a while. What have you been up to?

We’ve managed to pull together the program for the coming “Powerpoint year” and it looks like it’s going to be a good un. But then, what did you expect? This year, we’re going to try and make Powerpoint the best yet and we need your help to do that! Spread the word, encourage your friends to come along and feel free to send us your ideas for how the event could be better.

The program this year is entitled “Burning Issues: God in My….” and the dates etc are…

3rd October: Identity
14th November: Purpose (with DRAMAministry from AIM International)
12th December: Social Life

9th January: Prayer (The Powerpoint team will be meeting to pray and we would love you to join us in prayer in your own churches and homes - please note there will be no event at St. Thomas’ on this evening!)

13th February: Relationships
13th March: Living
24th April: Emotions

12th June: Church Life

You’ll see there are a couple of changes this year. One is that in January, we will be having a night of prayer instead of an official Powerpoint. The Powerpoint team will be meeting to pray and we would encourage you to hold your own prayer night with your youth groups / friends on this evening too as there will be no official event.

As you can see, the first event is on Friday 3rd October… that’s not that far away!!! So start freeing up your calendars now, get the dates in your diaries and spread the word…

The speaker at the first event, “God in My… Identity” has been confirmed and we are pleased to announce we will be joined by Kevin McGlade. Kevin is in a band called The 29th Chapter and he does a lot of work at events like Soul Survivor, New Wine… and all the others! The 29th Chapter perform a track with Tim Hughes on the Soul Survivor 2006 ‘Love Came Down’ album; perhaps you know it. This will be an event not to be missed, so we look forward to seeing you at St Thomas’, 7.30pm on Friday 3rd October

The Power of a Month Off

Hello all, it’s “Powerpoint” here… how are you?

It’s been a wee while since anything read-worthy was posted here; you might argue something “read-worthy” is yet to be posted here. That being the case, this will be no exception! Powerpoint April has been and gone and it was a good’un I’m sure you will agree. Sacrifical Living and Sacrificial Giving you say?!

ON the second note, you may remember we took a collection and also said we would use the money taken at the door, double it and make a donation to the Dalit community in India. These guys are the untouchables in India, treated as less than animals and despised by those around them, yet there are millions of them. Well, we managed to raise an incredible £1500 all-in! So thanks to you guys for being so generous and let’s not let the support stop there. Check out this link http://www.uk.om.org/html/pr_indiaappeal.html and continue to support this worthy cause and movement through prayer and - if you feel called and able - through giving. Together, we really can make a difference.

So May will be Power Pointless… or Powerpoint-less is maybe a better way to look at it. We’ll miss you guys, but you will be ensconced in the midst of exams and won’t have time for people like us. SO, work hard and we will be praying for all of you with (important) exams. Then, come back, feeling refreshed, recharged, revitalised and let’s make June Powerpoint the best ever… or at least good! It’s entitled The Point of Power and Dave Richards from Ps and Gs (St Paul’s and ST George’s) will be speaking… now there’s an exciting prospect!

We really hope you have been enjoying Powerpoint this year, it was great to see some old faces last month who we’ve not seen for a while (yes, we do notice). Please feel free to keep giving us feedback on where we are going wrong and where we are going right. You can do that here on this blog (by leaving a comment), or by emailing info@powerpointedinburgh.co.uk OR (if you’re a member), on the “unofficial” Powerpoint Bebo group (there’s a link at the side of this page) - join up, feedback and never look down.

That’s got to be enough from me…

Hiooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Good news everybody… Powerpoint is on again, THIS FRIDAY.

Do me a favour; bring £2, a friend or two and your own mind… does that count as three favours? Who cares?

Friday evening, 7.30pm at St Thomas’ Church on the Glasgow Rd Edinburgh… should be a good’un
